My peaceful paseo

Paseo = a walk.

I paseo-d alone today for about 1/2 an hour.  On my journey, I took in the sun and did some people watching.  It was peaceful, just watching these beautiful, un-obese spaniards strolling along the road, arm in arm with a loved one or drinking beer in the streets with friends.  Then faces started becoming familiar.  I started recognizing people on the streets.  I've been here a week and I'm already starting to get to know the locals.  Let me introduce you:

Homeless guy #1:  The Captain.  Spritely for an 80-year-old with a cane.  He wears a sign around his neck, a crazy boaters hat, a sport coat and has an extremely long Dumbledore-esque beard.  You'll usually find him hobbling quickly at people in the "Puerto Real" near all the ATM's, or the "Plaza Nueva" near all the students.  What a gem.

#2:  Lady who doesn't move.  This lovely creature tucks herself into a ball and sits in the same place on "Calle Recognidas" along my way home.  I swear she or her sign that she holds hasn't moved.  One of the less productive homeless people.

#3:  Silver lady.  Curly silver hair, silver  bonnet and pinafore (wtf if a pinafore?  It just sounds good).  She is the worst silver lady ever.  I mean, she looks good, but when you're pretending to be a statue, DON'T MOVE.  She always spins her little silver flower in her hands.

#4:  Crying man.  A great actor.  He comes up to hoards of people and cries while trying to tell his sad homeless story.  I don't know what he's saying, but his use of gestures make me think he may have been an alcoholic once.

#5:  Them gypsies.  They're everywhere.  Whether they're walking around with an old stroller full of drums, basking in the sun with the homeless dogs, trying to get me to buy a sprig of rosemary, or snorting coke of the front steps of our school, they always make me say in my heart, "aww...gross."

#6:  Old lady.  She's not too exciting.  She's just old and has a scarf over her head.  I think I should give her some tips.  Like, she's doing great at the standing up thing, (much more productive than Lady who doesn't move) but I mean....get a monkey or something.

I'll keep you updated on my new friends in the future.
